When your doctor says, "You have cancer" it can feel like a devastating gut-punch. Everyone who gets diagnosed has their own personal cancer experience. Mine included a medical research trial of injections, followed by chemotherapy, surgery and radiation treatments, all within about a year's time. I can share what worked for me to keep my head above water; and, together, we can discover what works best for you. Areas we may explore include lifestyle changes, diet, relaxation, positivity, building your support systems, spirituality, adjusting to changes in your body, relationships and more.
One definition of "cancer survivor" is simply a person who has had cancer who is still living. In different groups with varying perspectives, people become survivors when diagnosed, when undergoing treatment, after completing treatment, when told they have no sign of disease, and even when they are not anticipating being cured. Cancer patients with a Stage 4 diagnosis are beginning to get more visibility and recognition. Not all people who have been diagnosed with cancer like using the term "survivor." However, a positive perspective can help improve quality of life after diagnosis, and therapy can help!
